Policies

The terms we work to, written in language you can hold us to. These summarise our published terms of sale, which are supplied in full with any offer.

Who you are contracting with

London Gallery Club Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, trading from 3rd Floor, 45 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4JL.

On most works we act as agent for the artist or for a private owner, who remains the seller until title passes. Each artwork page states the role we are in, and your invoice repeats it. Where we own the work, we say so.

Prices, VAT and fees

Catalogue prices are the price of the work. Framing, delivery, installation and storage are quoted separately as individual lines before you commit to anything.

VAT treatment depends on the seller and the route of the sale, including whether a margin scheme applies. It is confirmed in writing on your invoice rather than estimated in conversation.

We do not add charges after an agreement is reached. Where an artist's resale right applies to a qualifying sale, we tell you before contract who pays it and how it is calculated.

Cancellation and returns

Where you buy at a distance as a consumer, you normally have 14 days from delivery to cancel. Limited exceptions apply and are set out on your order rather than hidden in a general condition.

A unique work is not automatically a bespoke commission, and we do not use that argument to remove your rights. We do not operate a blanket 'all sales final' policy.

If a work is not as described, tell us within 48 hours of delivery and keep the packaging. We open a case, preserve the evidence and deal with it on the facts.

Identity and payment checks

UK anti-money-laundering rules apply to qualifying art-market transactions at or above £10,000, including linked transactions. We identify the actual buyer or seller and anyone acting for them.

We screen relevant parties against sanctions requirements, and that screening applies regardless of the value of a transaction.

We check that payment reaches us from the party we have verified. Unexplained third-party funds are held while we establish the position, and a nominated officer can stop any transaction.

We collect only what these checks require. We do not ask for health, family or wider financial information in order to sell you a work.

Descriptions, valuations and claims

Artist biographies, edition numbers, exhibition history and price comparisons are approved against evidence before publication. Where evidence is incomplete, we say so.

We distinguish clearly between an asking price, an auction estimate, an insurance replacement value and a documented completed sale. Each is labelled with its purpose, date and basis.

We do not publish false scarcity, invented waiting lists, fictitious bids, fake reviews or countdowns.

We do not describe art as an investment, a savings substitute or a source of return, and no valuation we give is an offer to buy your work.

Privacy and marketing

We hold your contact details, the artworks and services you have discussed, your orders and the records we are required to keep. We do not sell your data.

Marketing by email is optional and separate from your purchase. Unsubscribing stops marketing while preserving the transaction, legal and suppression records we must retain.

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete what we are not required to keep.

Conflicts of interest

Where we advise a buyer on a work we also sell, or act for both sides, we disclose it in writing before you decide and agree how it will be handled.

Where we refer you to a framer, shipper, conservator or valuer and receive anything for that referral, we tell you.

Where reliance on a valuation requires independence, we appoint an independent valuer rather than valuing it ourselves.

Complaints

Write to complaints@londongalleryclub.com. We acknowledge within one working day and give a full answer within ten. A named manager owns the case throughout.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, we will tell you plainly what your options are rather than closing the file.

This page is a summary for clarity. It does not replace the full terms supplied with an offer, and it is not legal advice. Last reviewed 20 September 2026.
