(a) — For owners
Sell or consign
If you own a work and want to understand your realistic options, start here. A first conversation costs nothing and carries no obligation to sell through us.
An estimate or valuation from us is not an offer to buy your work, and we will never describe it as cash available to you.
(b) — The process
Initial review
Send images, dimensions, any paperwork and what you know of the history. We tell you within five working days whether we are the right gallery for the work — and if we are not, who might be.
Evidence and authority
We verify who owns the work and who has authority to sell it, record condition with dated photographs, and set out any gap in provenance plainly rather than writing around it.
Pricing conversation
We show you the comparable evidence we are using and its limitations. You see the asking price, our commission, any costs and your expected proceeds before anything is agreed.
Written consignment
Terms cover the period, the price authority, discount limits, insurance while in our care, where the work is stored, and what happens if it does not sell.
Offer and sale
The work is presented to the collectors it actually suits. Buyer checks are completed before release, and nothing is discounted beyond the limits you agreed.
Settlement
You are paid to the agreed timetable once funds have cleared and the work has been delivered, with a statement reconciling the sale line by line.
(c) — Before you send anything
What we will ask for
- Photographs of the front, the back, the signature and any label.
- Artist, title, year, medium and dimensions as far as you know them.
- How and when the work came to you, and any paperwork you hold.
- Where the work is now, and whether it is insured.
For qualifying transactions at or above £10,000 we are required to verify your identity and your authority to sell before we can proceed. We ask for that at the right point in the process, not in this first message.
Tell us about the work
